Hi Sarah,

I just completed a full treatment (3 separate 15g) of Lufenuron, but I still have thrush and my lips have not improved. In fact, after I completed the second 15g dosage, my lips became really hard, and if I peeled it it would bleed and sometimes ooz a clear liquid.

As far as my history goes, I've always had a diet high in sugary foods (white bread, sweets, coffee loaded with sugar). I even vaguely remember once when I was young, having a white coating on part of my tongue. Eventually, it must have gone away on its own, because I don't recall generally having a white tongue (also, I used to get my teeth cleaned at the dentist every 6 months, and they never mentioned me having thrush, so I'm assuming I didn't have it before). Fast forward to Sept 2009 - Sept 2010. I studied abroad in the UK, and my diet was loaded with carbs. I ate mostly chickpeas and pasta, and drank coffee like it was water (loaded with sugar, of course). At one point when I had a sinus infection, I took an antibiotic on an empty stomach. I had the worst pain in my life. Two days later, I remember that taking antibiotics on an empty stomach is a no-no, so I quickly drank a little probiotic I had, and the pain subsided.

Since about a year ago, I've tried to wean myself off of chapstick. I always needed chapstick because my lips were always dry and crusty. After doing a lot of research and the spit test, I figured I had a candida infection. Also, other people mentioned having a white tongue, so I decided to check mine. Voila, I had thrush too. I stopped going to my dentist about a year ago, so either the thrush started after that, my dentist didn't diagnose me, or it actually isn't thrush and is something else. Also, I recently started getting a lot of yeast infections.

While I was taking Lufenuron, I also started taking kefir (I made my own from live grains, so it should be more nutritious that what is available in stores). Along with that, I would drink a 4oz glass of water with oregano oil it in, as well as taking daktarin gel. My lips still haven't healed and my thrush seems to have gotten worse. If I brush my tongue after doing a salt-water gargle, then it gets mostly pinkish/red, but there still seems to be a tiny bit of thrush there. Also, I think the thrush has started to travel down my throat as it seems to go far back in my mouth (in places I can't reach with my toothbrush without gagging).

Is it possible that I don't have thrush? Should I do another round of Lufenuron? I recently purchased Digest Gold pills to help my digestion, and am about to start taking vitamins. Also, I heard chlorophyll helps, so I've started taking that too, but I"m not sure if that will cure me.

When I took the lufenuron, the first two dosage groups gave me die-off symptoms while the last one didn't really seem to affect me (except for maybe a little depression). Is it possible my body became immune to it? The lufenuron did get rid of the yeast infections (yay!), but I still have thrush and my lips are hard :( Honestly, I could almost deal with the thrush, but its my lips that really bother me. Thankfully, I'm not in a relationship at the moment, but it worries me that eventually this will never go away, and kissing would not be pleasant with crusty lips!:o

Please advise. Thanks!

If the Lufenuron got rid of the yeast but not of the thrush (not even for a few days), then it can be said with extreme confidence that the thrush is not of the same origin as the yeast. It may be bacterial or fungal, but a different fungus that the yeast in that case. Or it could have a different cause alltogether. many people worry about an oral thrush and when I see the pictures, it looks completely normal - many people have a mild white shine to their tongues that can be brushed off but reappears rapidly.

The lip issue you describe however has happened when people had oral Candidiasis, so unless I see detailed, focused, well-lighted, high-resolution pictures of the mouth, tongue and lips before, during and after treatment, I can't say anything about this. And remember I'm not a doctor!

A carb-heavy diet is very unhealthy for all people. Carbs, not fats, are responsible for obesity and diabetes.

Some antibiotics can be taken on an empty stomach. Some, such as Minocycline and Doxycycline, should better not.

The Candida spit test is complete nonsense, as I explain here:

I'm not sure why you think yogurt from live grains is more nutritious that store-bought, but it's not very relevant anyway. Both diary products and grains are bad for human health. Diary products because they cause an enormous imbalance in the Calcium-Magnesium-Phosphorus equilibrium, leading to osteoporosis. The excess Calcium damages the Osteoblast/Osteoclast system. grains because they contain gluten, and all humans have a primary (innate) immune response against gluten. Gluten are a chemical weapon evolved by the plant, in order to discorage its seeds from being digested by animals - only ingested and excreted unaffected, so that the seed can germinate. Only recently in human evolution, some of us evolved to lack also the secondary immune response.

I wrote about that here:

I would not buy any more Lufenuron, as it clearly does not improve your situation any more.

Drinking Oregano oil is a bad idea, as it kills the probiotic gut bacteria. Essential oils are for external use only, no matter what the salespeople say. Those oils irritate your own tissues as well. They can only safely be used on the skin.

I wrote about that here:

There is no such thing as "the body" becoming immune to a medicine. It is always the infectious organism that becomes resistant. A person becomes immune against a disease, and an infectious organism becomes resistant against a medicine.
Yes, it is possible that Candida becomes (partially) resistant against Lufenuron, when it mutates to be Chitin-deficient in all its life cycles. That weakens the Candida however, making it easier for other antifungals and the immune system to conquer it.

I wrote about that here:

Last but not least: Don't put too much faith in supplements. 99.99% of them are useless. Your first priority should be sufficient sleep. Your second priority - enough vit. D from the sun (not from supplements). Your third - a good diet. Your fourth: "Medical" antifungals. Your Fifth: multivitamin supplements of very high quality and with much higher dosages than the RDA. After that, there are several other things you can do, but the things you mention (Digest Gold etc.) are a waste of money. You should try improving the sterngth of your immune system by becoming healthier, eliminating stress, environmental contaminants, avoiding alcohol, cigarettes etc.
